Vacheron Constantin continues the traveling spirit of Overseas watches with its new skeletonized tourbillon model, the first in this collection launched in 1996. Perfectly streamlined, fully skeletonized movement; refined case, robust; this watch features a tourbillon-driven movement that guarantees a comfortable power reserve of more than three days, strictly disciplined and designed for the greatest travels, as François Constantin, the indefatigable traveler who in 1819 had proposed a lasting alliance with Jacques-Barthélémi Vacheron.
The watch comes in two versions, one in 5N 18K rose gold and the other in grade 5 titanium. The titanium model is the Maison’s first made entirely of this same metal, from the crown to the bezel and from the bracelet to the case. The skeletonization work carried out on the automatic caliber 2160 has allowed not only a 20% reduction in the weight of the movement, but also a complete rethinking of its architecture. Its curvature is therefore very slender, just 5.65mm thick, a true technical feat considering the requirements linked to the integration of a tourbillon carriage. This slimness is due in particular to the choice of a gold peripheral oscillating weight, which also allows a completely clear view of the rear of the movement.
You can clearly admire the work done on the base plate
and the four bridges, with the NAC (N-acetylcysteine) surface treatment applied by electrolysis that gives it an anthracite gray tint. This contemporary touch given to the movement blends perfectly with the classic haute horlogerie finishes in the form of hand-drawn accordingly
and hand-chamfered flanks with polished bezels to accentuate the play of light between the components. The main plate and the bridges are also delicately decorated to create a finish of very fine and perfectly horizontal grooves. Such concern for detail is a creed that even the smallest part deserves the same meticulous attention as those that are perfectly visible.
The same NAC surface treatment can be found on the barrel, accordingly
whose barrel and cap have been completely openworked, creating a compass rose shape on the dial side,
another original feature of Caliber 2160 SQ. To complete the fretwork of this 186-component movement,
the wheels have also been lightened, while the tourbillon is supported by a rounded upper bridge. The tourbillon regulator, which rotates once per minute, operates at a speed of 18,000 vibrations accordingly
per hour (2.5 Hz) and serves as a small seconds hand via one of the four fixing screws on the carriage,
which is gray on the rose gold and flambéed in the titanium version.
For this new caliber, the Vacheron Constantin watchmakers have also redesigned
the regulating organ housed in the tourbillon carriage together with the escapement. A new balance spring was designed in-house, fitted with a Breguet coil (terminal curve). By folding the outer coil of the spring towards the center, away from its horizontal plane, accordingly

The sapphire crystal that serves as the dial reveals all the details of the caliber,
Depending on the model, the watchmaker has attached the hour markers to this crystal in 5N 18K rose gold or 18K white gold. The hands are in the same precious metal and,
like the hour markers, have a Super-LumiNova® luminous coating to ensure perfect visibility at night. The watchmakers have used black lacquered 18K 5N rose gold
or blue PVD treated 18K white gold on the dial ring.
Special attention has been paid to the finish of the case and bracelet. The bezel ring is circular satin-brushed on the 5N 18K rose gold version
and sandblasted on the grade 5 titanium iteration. The case and bracelet of both models are vertically satin-brushed with polished angles on the links of the bracelet,
whose shape is inspired by Vacheron Constantin’s Maltese Cross emblem.
Both fake watches feature the Overseas collection’s specific interchangeable strap system. They come with two calfskin and rubber straps:
black with two pin buckles in 5N 18K rose gold for the gold model;
and blue with interchangeable titanium folding clasp for the titanium model.
Several “firsts” characterize the new Overseas tourbillon skeleton model. It is the first watch in the collection equipped with a tourbillon movement in a skeletonized version. The new Manufacture Caliber 2160 SQ, which features handcrafted finishes characteristic of haute horlogerie
but with a contemporary spirit, is equipped with an original regulation organ featuring a Breguet winding-spring. The openwork of the body reveals a lid in the shape of a compass rose,
a novel design for Vacheron Constantin fake. Available in 5N 18K rose gold and grade 5 titanium,
this latest version is the first Vacheron Constantin watch to be made entirely of this metal, including the bezel and crown.
Fully in keeping with the Overseas collection’s spirit of travel,
this breath of fresh air is accompanied by meticulous attention to the finish of the movement and case. Each component is reworked and finished by hand, perfectly illustrating the Maison’s Anatomy of Beauty theme for 2022,
highlighting all the richness and subtlety of detail found in a Vacheron Constantin watch. Both versions come with two interchangeable leather and rubber straps.
